THE INDIAN YOUTH CLIMATE NETWORK

Partners Logo - IYCN

The Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN) is a youth-led voluntary organisation and is one of the largest youth-led organisations in the country working towards tackling climate change-related issues to ensure a safer and healthier planet for present and future generations. A major part of our mandate is to study climate policy, deconstruct it for the understanding of young people and undertake advocacy for a sustainable, just and bright future for the youth at both national and international platforms. In this regard, IYCN has sent youth-led delegations to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties (COP) ever since its inception in 2008.

The programme, “Agents of Change '' is one of a few initiatives by IYCN wherein youth from the subcontinent get to interact and engage at international platforms with the Indian government, civil society, the UN and youths from different parts of the world. It helps youth get a ringside view of the negotiations on climate change that have important

implications for their and the country’s future. The board and governance are led by youth and all the projects handled by IYCN are conceived, directed and managed by youth. IYCN strives to train youth to be green entrepreneurs in collaboration with partner organisations. IYCN has a rich experience in executing projects since its inception. It has reached out to more than 10,000 youth through direct outreach activities like the ‘Climate Road Tour’ covering the entire expanse of the country from Chennai to Kashmir. IYCN has a steady stream of volunteers across 14 cities and many towns.
